Last Sunday I preached a message I titled, "Look no further"! Everybody’s looking for something! Sometimes what you’re looking for is right in front of you! In fact, what you're looking for is actually looking for you! You're probably looking for joy, happiness, peace, and contentment. All of this can be found in the "One" called Jesus Christ.
During the sermon I read:
Matthew 11:1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities. 2 Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, 3 And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?
4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: 5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. 6 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.
The men in this story were wondering if Jesus was the "One". Jesus simply asked them to look at the work He has done. The works of Christ speaks for itself. In other words, "Look no further"!
When I was a child I played a game called "Hide-and-go-seek". The best way to play the game is to not look for the kids that are hiding, but rather look for the possible hiding places of kids. In other words, look for the place that a kid could come out of hiding. We spend too much time looking for our blessings when we should spend all of our time looking for where blessings come from! We should look for the "blessing giver" instead of the blessing. The "blessing giver" is God the Father, and blessings come to us through the works of Jesus the Christ. So my point is, accept Jesus today as your Savior and Lord, and "Look no further"!

During the month January 2019 we will pray for God to bless atheists (people who do not believe in the existence of God) with mercy.
Jude - English Standard Version (ESV) 17 But you must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. 18 They said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.” 19 It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit. 20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.
January 2019 Question of the month!
If Judas was destined to betray Jesus, Why did Jesus pick a betrayer as one of His first twelve disciples?
Answer: It was part of God’s plan. This is proof that sometimes evil deeds are necessary for God’s will to be fulfilled. However, Jesus warned His disciples that one of them would betray Him in the Gospel of John chapter 13.
John 13:18 New King James Version (NKJV) “I do not speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.’ 19 Now I tell you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe that I am He. 20 Most assuredly, I say to you, he who receives whomever I send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.” 21 When Jesus had said these things, He was troubled in spirit, and testified and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me.” 22 Then the disciples looked at one another, perplexed about whom He spoke.
Judas was selected because prophesy in the Old Testament of the Bible had to be fulfilled. Prophesy is confirmation that Jesus Christ was born, betrayed, crucified, and has risen again to be our Lord and Savior! Here is a prophetic verse about a betrayer of the Lord:
Psalm 41:7 All who hate me whisper together against me; Against me they devise my hurt.
9 Even my own familiar friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me.
Can you see the similarities in these two passages of scriptures?
Unfortunately Judas did not do well after the betrayal of Jesus. The Bible says in Matthew 27:3 Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4 saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” And they said, “What is that to us? You see to it!” 5 Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself.
Wow! There are many ways to look at this situation, but I choose to see this as, “God knows best”! God knows how He will use everyone on the earth for our benefit, whether they are good or bad. However, I recommend we all get on the Lord’s side and choose to live righteously. So pray and give your best effort to NEVER betray Jesus.
Isaiah 43:18 New King James Version (NKJV) “Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.
Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
